TALLAHASSEE — Lt. Gov. Carlos Lopez-Cantera, a candidate for Marco Rubio's U.S. Senate seat, announced the endorsement of nine Republican state representatives on Wednesday.
“Together, we have created over 900,000 jobs by putting money back in the hands of the taxpayer. It is time for Washington to do the same and I look forward to making sure it’s getting done as the next U.S. Senator from Florida,” Lopez-Cantera said in a statement.
The endorsement list includes House Rules chairman Ritch Workman of Melbourne, Jason Brodeur of Sanford, and Scott Plakon of Longwood.
"Lt. Governor Lopez-Cantera’s Florida experience and outlook is desperately needed in Washington to help stop the out of control debt and immoral generational theft that so many beltway politicians have helped enable,” Plakon said in the statement.
Lopez-Cantera is running against Reps. David Jolly and Ron DeSantis along with businessman Todd Wilcox in the GOP primary. The Democratic side features Reps. Alan Grayson versus Patrick Murphy.
Rubio chose to run for president this year rather than seek re-election.
Here’s Lopez-Cantera’s full endorsement list:
Jason Brodeur (R-Sanford)
Bob Cortes (R-Altamonte Springs)
Tom Goodson (R-Titusville)
Mike LaRosa (R-Saint Cloud)
Marlene O’Toole (R-The Villages)
Scott Plakon (R-Longwood)
Rene Plasencia (R-Orlando)
David Santiago (R-Deltona)
Ritch Workman (R-Melbourne)
